Miguel Macaya sempre mira a les coses com si acabessin d’aparèixer inexplicablement; retrats de boxejadors, animals, torers o les natures mortes, són també obres de reminiscència goyesques, les que també enllacen amb pintura barroca i les corrents tenebristes espanyoles, amb l’ús de la tècnica característic, la ironia i el clarobscur.
